Every year as winter draws near and fall is at its end, I am always drawn to baking.  I love how it warms our home with smells that can remind me of my childhood spent with my little nose to the counter top with my big blue eyes watching my great grandma mix and bake delicious and exciting things.  As a child those memories we made together were magical and I will never forget them and the impact they had on me.  I have always loved to cook and bake and I am pretty sure I owe a lot of that to my gram, she was so talented in the kitchen and always willing to let me join in.  One of her specialties was french toast.  She would beat the eggs and milk together, add a bit of vanilla and then dunk the slices of bread for a quick second before tossing them into her skillet with a dash of cinnamon.  I can still remember her sitting across the kitchen table, watching me enjoy a big plate of her french toast.  That sparkle in her eye as we talked...
Now that I have three children of my own, I love to involve them in the kitchen and they love helping.  No matter the mess, teaching them my little tricks and letting them mix the ingredients is such fun.  As a home cook and someone who has gone through culinary school, I appreciate the finer things.  Rodelle's premium products are the perfect addition to my perfect french toast or cookie recipe and I would not have it any other way.  Teaching my children to use high quality ingredients is important to me.  I mean why do all the work if you do not add some extra love?
The other morning I made my special french toast.  I of course added in Rodelle pure vanilla extract into my milk and eggs because it just gives our simple meal that extra oomph.  Rodelle pure vanilla extract has a rich full bodied flavor with a dark rich aroma.  As the french toast sizzled in the pan, our whole kitchen filled with that delicious vanilla scent and the children's eyes lit up as they picked themselves out of bed to trot over to the breakfast table.  They just knew, it was time for their favorite!  I tossed each a piping hot slice of french toast onto their plate which was promptly devoured within minutes.  "Mom, you are the BEST cooker in the whole world!" they told me.  I just smile to myself and think of how someday I will be teaching their little ones how to cook, just maybe.  Savor every moment.
