Tookies is a one of a kind Etsy shop that makes and sells the most delicious cookie-wiches, jar cakes and gourmet marshmallows. They use only the finest all fresh, organic, natural and fair trade ingredients plus their colors are all natural and organic. Handmade just for your enjoyment, Tookies pays attention to detail and their passion for baking and creating shines through in everything they make.
I was delighted to try out some of their treats that they so happily sent me. It meant breaking my diet but I was willing lol. I had not yet had the pleasure of enjoying a
handmade marshmallow and had no idea what to expect but their pictures in the Tookies Etsy shop make you want to jump through the screen to have a try, they look so enticing. Besides, if nobody is looking when you eat them then they are calorie free right? hehe
I opened the package up as soon as it arrived and my heart did a flutter, these marshmallows were huge! Literally a meal, just one mallow and I was set but they sent me four kinds (S'more, Maple Walnut, Cherry Dark Chocolate and Aphrodite's Kiss) to try so paced myself and had one each day for four days plus of course shared with my hubby and kids. The kids raved about how jumbo these were and begged for more, my husband even loved them and he doesn't have the biggest sweet tooth. Our favorite was the S'more marshmallows! I put them into the microwave for just a few seconds to warm them up before eating, they were ooey gooey and oh so heavenly. These stored so well in a baggie, they were still as fresh as the day we got them 7 days later. The marshmallows did not make it much longer than that but only because my children gobbled them up! I even made them fluffernutter banana sandwiches with a couple, yum.
Have you ever had a pretty little
jarcake? It's almost too pretty to eat! I'd never had a jarcake myself but let me tell ya about it while I take a bite of my
Radiant Rainbow Tye-Dye Vanilla & Buttercreme Frosting jar cake, mmmhrmpff iz gooooommm...hehe. The pretty colors of the moist cake, the buttery frosting, so phenomenal! It comes with a spoon so there is no need to even move, just open it up and eat *happy sigh*.
At Tookies everything is handmade in small batches, it's all super fresh and can have a long turn around time BUT have no fear because they do offer a good selection of
ready to ship items so you can satisfy your craving quick. It's worth the wait if you do not pick a ready to go item though, really worth it. They wrap everything so carefully so that it arrives safe and sound. Once you have a taste you will never be the same.

Tell a bit about yourself...(family, pets ect...)
We are a small family owned business in the south. We every one of us have creative genes...guess it just runs in the family. We run on the fuel of God, love, prayer and LAUGHTER! We are a practical joking family, none of us can live without humor and being the next big/best practical joker. We have a big family, including 3 amazing boxers! We are also a full military family and we love our troops. Being patriotic and supporting our military is one of the most important things to us.
What is your favorite of the handmade items you make and why?
Ohhh...this is so hard to choose, it would have to be a tie with all three things we make, jar cakes, marshmallows and cookie-wiches (not a direct answer, sorry!) The jar cakes because making them, creating them, is an art project. They come out so pretty every time and we just love to know that someone will receive our jar cakes and say "oh em gee, this is just TOO pretty or cute to eat"!! However then they dig in and taste our cake recipes and exclusive buttercremes and it's a little taste of heaven!
What inspires you?
Our inspirations come from our tastebuds, one another and our customers! Feedback from our customers is a true blessing to us at tookies. We love hearing how a package of our tookies reached them or a loved one, and how much they enjoyed devouring it, this is truly a blessing to hear. It makes us want to get up the next morning and create, create more!
What are three tools in your workspace that you could not live without?
Only three?!! well we would have to say, SUGAR...butter and definitely love. Without these three we just wouldn't be tookies.
What do you enjoy doing when you are not in the kitchen?
Family, family, family! and when we say family, we have a huge extended family! We are always having extended family sleeping over, always cooking together, always taking a family day to spend together someone fun..we are also all readers and movie lovers!
How did you come up with your store name?
Well, long story short, it was a mispronounced 'cookie' word by our little one that made us from them on always call cookies, 'tookies'!
How did you get started in your handmade business?
Well, being that we are a full time military family, numerous times we have had a family member overseas many times and we wanted to find creative ways to send homemade gourmet desserts that would ship well and be truly something that couldn't be found in iraq/afghanistan a taste of something homemade, in america, a taste of home...thus the jar cake was born.
We have also created our gourmet marshmallows, which ship fabulously and are long lasting. We ship constantly to military members in Iraq, Afghanistan, Japan, Germany. For every military order, shipping to an apo/fpo addy, no matter how small we ship it in our largest shipping box and load it FULL of tookies delectables for them to share and enjoy at no extra cost. This is our way of saying thank you to our amazing military for bravely serving our country.
