#WIN $80 ARV Wish You Were Here #Giveaway Hop

Welcome to the Wish You Were Here Giveaway Hop!  While thousands of bloggers travel to The Big Apple for a blogging conference, we thought it would be really fun to put on a giveaway hop for our readers (before we left)!   This event is hosted by BloggerPR and will run from July 30-August 6, 2012.  Each giveaway prize is valued over $25.00, so you are sure to find something you will like!
Here's what you can WIN on Mama Nibbles ($80 ARV):

-8 oz Clio's beary Soft Lotion.  ARV $29
My True Nature™ uses only natural ingredients free from the harmful chemicals that have been identified with health problems. Bottles are 100% recycled PET, completely free from PCBs and phthalates.
We like the citrus scent of the shampoo and body wash.  We also like that this product rinses very clean, leaving you with a squeaky clean child.  The pump style bottles make it easy to use while wrangling a small child in the tub.  The bubble wash foams up very well and makes for a really fun bath time!  I think that the packaging is really pretty and the little characters add to the fun.
Rubbermaid LunchBlox Sandwich Set which includes:
-2 Snack Containers
-1 Side Container
-1 Sandwich Container and 1 Medium Blue Ice pack.  ARV $13
Rubbermaid LunchBlox makes packing lunch easier than ever. These modular containers snap together in multiple configurations to efficiently use the space in your lunch box or bag. Containers are perfectly portioned for your favorite lunch foods with handy measurements on the sides of each container. Your lunch stays chilled with snap in Blue Ice. Individual containers are sold separately from kits so you can configure a different way everyday.  BPA free
We love Lunchblox because they are compact and fit into any lunch bag or cooler that we own.  The containers snap easily together and the blue ice chill pack can be positioned however you need it because it too snaps onto the containers.  I felt like the lids sealed very tightly and the plastic was very high quality.  The small containers are much better than wasteful plastic baggies.  I actually use one of the small containers to hold my earrings when I go on trips.  These are very convenient!

BabbaBox Subscription Craft Boxes for Kids - Keeping Kids Creative Grand Prize Sponsor

BabbaBox Sample Image
Babbaco BabbaBox
BabbaBox - the box we got was about feelings

Our 6 year old using his scissor skills

Our finished project, the kids enjoyed themselves
BabbaBox is a kids craft monthly subscription box filled with themed creative ideas and projects for children ages 3-6 (recommended age).  When our box arrived to our door step we all admired the bright green color and the kids were very inquisitive about the contents.  Upon opening our BabbaBox we were greeted with the crisp white tissue paper and logo sticker.  The presentation made it feel exciting, like a gift and I could sense the children's curiosity growing.       So we open the tissue paper and we were greeted by a few big clear bags filled with fun crafts and then a book underneath them all.  The kids were pumped to dig into this!  We quickly took a vote and chose to do the feelings magnet craft, it looked like something they could all participate in.  I read the darling scissor poem that came with the included scissors, it was fun.  The kids and I talked about feelings and then began coloring and cutting.  When we finished our project the children and I stepped back to admire our work.  There is something so satisfying about completing a craft and it is that much more special when done as a family.      I think that BabbaBox is a really neat concept that was really well thought out.  They have very nice organization inside their craft boxes.  The themes are excellent for children in the age range they are targeting.  The value you get for your money is wonderful, everything in our kit was of high quality.  I like that you can subscribe according to your budget.  If I were looking to just do a few boxes over the summer months then I would just sign up for the monthly option.  If I were looking to keep my child busy each month (maybe they are not yet in school) then there is a yearly option which saves you a little bit of money because they give you two boxes for free!  If it is a gift I need there is a selection for that, I can send a 1,3 or 12 month gift card to my special someone.  How do you get charged? For monthly memberships, your credit card is charged for the first box at the time of your purchase. Then your card is charged on the 1st of each month after you receive your first box. For annual and gift subscriptions, your card is charged in the full amount at the time of your purchase. *You can cancel your monthly membership at any time! (learn more) So now that I've introduced you to BabbaBox I hope you will take a moment to like the BabbaBox Facebook page and follow BabbaCo on Twitter.  You can even enter to win a year's worth of boxes on their Facebook page right now through 7/31, so hurry over to their website and click the orange banner at the left/top of the page!
I want to also remind you all that BabbaBox will be part of the grand prize in our upcoming Fall event called Keeping Kids Creative!  BabbaBox will be giving away a 6 month subscription to their service ARV $180.  Mark your calendar and bookmark Mama Nibbles to enter this giveaway, it is going to be really amazing with even more prizes!

*I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

College Students Save 40-90% off Bookstore Prices

As a mom who went to college after I had my first two children I definitely remember the struggle that we had with buying the textbooks I needed.  Books were so outrageously expensive and I had no idea you could buy them used when I first started attending.  I wish somebody had shared that tidbit of helpful info with me!  One book I had to buy for a big course was On Cooking and it cost me well over $200!  I have a younger sister who is also still attending college to become a teacher.  I hear from her all the time about how expensive her books are.  I have been able to share and help her find used books and it saved her a lot of money.  Campus Book Rentals is a great website that college students can use to save some hard earned cash.

Some benefits of using Campus Book Rentals are:
-Saving 40-90% off of bookstore prices
-Free shipping both ways
-Flexible renting periods
-30 day risk free returns
-Live customer support
-Sell them your used books and get an instant cash quote plus free shipping label
-Refer friends and be rewarded with a credit
-They have a partnership with Operation Smile.  An awesome organization that performs life changing cleft lip surgeries on children whose families could not otherwise afford it.

#WIN Cleaning Products by Dapple Baby 2012 NCW Eco-Excellence Awards Winner

Dapple - Winner of the 2012 NCW Eco-Excellence Awards!
Dapple makes a line of natural cleaners for homes with babies and kids.  Dapple products are made with ingredients found in nature that have the ability to take on the icky sticky kinds of messes that all little ones have the ability to create.  Dapple was founded by two moms who just wanted to be able to clean up after their own babies in a safer, healthier, more eco-friendly way.  Dapple Baby products were recently voted as the winners in their category for the 2012 NCW Eco-Excellence Awards!  The NCW Eco-Excellence Awards have been created by Natural Child World Magazine in partnership with Healthy Child Healthy World and Project Nursery.

First we tried dapple surface cleaner spray with lavender.  This spray is for highchairs, toys, the car seat...pretty much anywhere you want to use it to get that the baby goop up.  I like the lavender scent, no LOVED ♥ the lavender scent!  The strength of the scent was absolutely perfect in my opinion, it was intoxicating to me and made me want to find more items to clean...seriously!  One plus that sometimes cleaners forget to have is that the spray nozzle can be twisted around to either be on, off, stream or spray.  Being able to control the nozzle was a huge plus to me because sometimes I need to just stream the stuff all over my messy dried on yogurt messed high chair and then there are times where I only need a quick mist for a small toy.  Another plus is the bottle size.  It comes in a 16.9 fl oz bottle which is just the right weight for my tired hands and plenty enough spray to get me about 1 month's worth of cleaning if used twice per day.  The shape of the bottle makes it easy to hold and the clear plastic makes for a really pretty bottle to just leave out by my kitchen sink, it's not an eyesore at all to me.  The best part about this simple cleaner is that it is not an antibacterial cleaner, it is simply kin to good old soap and water which really is best for helping our babes to build up a stronger immune system.  The ingredients that make up this cleaner are so simple and they do not include any of the bad stuff such as parabens, dyes or phthalates.  Ingredients: purified water, cleaners from fruits and tree oils, pure baking soda from a natural ore, French lavender essential oil, and natural dispersant.  The price for this is not too hard on the pocket book at around $4.99 per bottle.  I will be making this product a staple in my home because mommy needs at least a bit of relaxation and this lavender spray really does calm my mood.

Next up are travel size dapple pacifier wipes.  These are food grade and come individually packaged in that little box you see to the left so that you can toss them in your purse or bag for on-the-go use.  Ten of these babies come in a pack and they go for around $2.99.  So when you are at the coffee shop showing off your little cutie to your girl friends and suddenly your little one spits their paci or teether toy out onto the dirty floor, it's as easy as 123 to grab a wipe, rip open and swipe it over before handing it back to baby.  These handy wipes are unscented and of course, very safe for using to wipe a little face or hand too.  The price and quality is actually very comparable to other brands of wipes and those are not all biodegradeable or made to be as gentle.  The ingredients are: purified water, vegetable glycerin, disodium phosphate and monosodium phosphate (two salts derived from natural ore), lauryl glucoside (cleaner made from tree oils and glucoside).  I opened one wipe the other day but ended up not needing it and it dried out but not to worry, all you need to do is moisten it up with a bit of purified water and you are good to go.  These sure do beat rinsing and are especially handy when there is no sink nearby!

*Happy sigh* dapple laundry detergent (50 fl oz or 32 loads).  I tested this out to it's fullest!  My child (almost 2) is always up to no good when he is eating or playing lol.  He gets messes where the sun doesn't even shine and it's a rough game trying to find products that can clean his clothing up.  This detergent is fragrance-free which I like and it is available in little travel size packets.  The travel size are SO nice to have!  I do always take an extra outfit along when we go away because I am expecting my little nugget to make a mess...he never disappoints.  Having a small little packet of detergent means I can hand wash his little mess in the sink, preventing set in stains or smells thus saving me $.  The sweet handle on the side of the bottle is easy to hold while pouring into the handy measuring cup cap and the weight of the bottle is not so much that I need a crane to lift it!  This powerful detergent cleans up stains like nobody's business, it washes away poo smells and it is very mild.  Mild enough to even use on your cloth diapers.  Dapple detergent is suitable for newborns, toddlers and even adults suffering from eczema. The price is not to shabby, this sells for around $8.99 a bottle.  Best plus - leaves clothes fluffy, fresh and soft without using harsh chemicals.

Next up is dapple baby bottle & dish liquid.  I own a lot of dishes for my nugget that cannot go into the dishwasher so handwashing is my only option.  The dapple dish liquid I tried out is fragrance free and made from baby safe ingredients such as baking soda and tree oils.  I do believe this comes in lavender too.  The pump on the top is the best thing ever!  I can't even begin to talk about how many times I have wished for my dishsoap to have a pump!  When I am rushing into the kitchen to quickly wash up a sippy cup it's nice to be able to just give a quick push of the pump onto my scrubbie, to not have to fiddle with pulling up on a small cap just to squirt it.  Such a small action but it can be frustrating sometimes especially when I've just had my nails done, don't want to chip one!  Same as the spray, the clear bottle is so nice to have near the sink and is not an eyesore at all.  I've noticed that milk can leave a little residue in my son's cup but this dapple liquid gets rid of it very effectively.  There was actually one time that some orange juice sat in a sippy for a little too long.  It got a bit ripe and I was afraid I'd have to throw the cup out but after a little soak and scrub with my dapple liquid there was no smell to detect at all.  Wonderfully the cup was saved.  Dapple dish liquid comes in a 16.9 fl oz bottle and it goes for around $5.99 for the bottle.

Last but certainly not least I reviewed dapple fragrance free and lavender surface wipes which can be used for high chairs, toys and just about everything else you can imagine.  The wipes come in a nice big can which I love to keep next to my kitchen table for quick cleanups.  They also come in a travel size pack that is great for the purse or glove compartment.  I have used these many times on my son's car seat.  When we are on long drives he does eat a snack in his seat and sometimes it goops up the straps.  The wipes help clean that mess up.  Again I am probably a lavender addict so I loooove the lavender scent but the unscented work just as well.  The wipes work just as well as the spray.  I think I prefer the spray more than these wipes but that is a personal preference of course.  The ingredients in these are the same as the spray, these are food grade just like everything else and of course biodegradable.  You can wash your little nugget's cheeks and fingers and not have to worry, it won't harm them.  The canister holds 35 wipes an the travel size holds 20.  I have seen a can that has 75 count canister online that goes for around $7.  The 35 count canister sells for approximately $4.99 and the travel pack goes for around $3.49.

Mom VoxBox 2012 Review

What is a Voxbox?  Well they are a free box of products that Influenster sends out to a chosen group of people to test, review and keep.  You can sign up at http://www.influenster.com/.  Be sure to follow them on Twitter and Facebook to find out when boxes will be released.

This is my 1st Voxbox and it's just meh for me.  I would have been more impressed and had a better experience with reviewing if all the items were full size.  I also felt like this box was just random items, the only item I'd really want as a mom would be the tea.  It's always fun to get something in the mail though so at least there was that.  Inside my box I received the following items:
  • Ivory Bar Soap
I had no idea what to do with the soap bar, who really uses bar soap anymore?  I have used this soap in the past when bar soap was still "in" and it really dried my skin out, left a nasty film on it and I had a slight allergic reaction of sorts to it.  Our family doesn't and so I stuffed this in a pillow case and threw it in a dark corner of my bat cave basement to help freshen it up since the Ivory soap bar had such a heavy scent.  ETA: I did try it out, still had the same issues as in the past...burns my skin!
  • DenTek Comfort Clean & Fun Flossers
Our family already does use the flossers from DenTek so those were nothing new, we really like how convenient they are and tossing a couple into my purse is really easy, they are nice to have around and really who wants to be talking and later find out they had spinach in their teeth?
  • Stash Tea Superfruits Tea Sampler and Nektar Sweetener
Stash Tea Superfruits Sampler was absolutely delicious, I am a tea lover and would totally recommend this to anybody.  The Nektar Sweetener was decent.  I already use another honey crystals brand that are much better so if I compare the two, Nektar was kind of week in flavor.
  • Quaker Soft Baked Cookie
I looooved the Quaker Soft Baked Cookie!  The cookie I received was all smashed up and kind of on the dry side but still, it was tasty and nothing a tall glass of milk could not fix.  These cookies are a great source of fiber and when I am not feeling like baking my own I will buy these for the family.
  • imPRESS Press-On Manicure by Broadway Nails
I felt like the imPRESS nails were made for an infant, the nails are much to small to fit on a grown woman's nails!  I was sent a bright purple color and there would be no way in hay I would be caught dead wearing that color.  I gave the nails to my 8 year old daughter who tried them on and within 24 hours had 4 fall off...48 hours later they were all off and it's not like she is rough with her hands in any way.  These were a big disappointment.
  • Lingo Dino Language Learning Programs for Kids (demo dvd)
The language DVD was absolutely terrible.  I wish it could have been better but it seriously sounded like a little kid was screaming into a microphone when they did the voice-over LOL!  I turned it off immediately and it will probably end up in the trash.
*So that was my 100% honest experience with the items I received.  These items were free through Influenster but that did not in any way sway my point of view.

Sweet Summer Handbag

Flowers are so romantic, I just love them but I never wear many floral patterns on my clothing so I've been looking for a sweet handbag that is not overpoweringly floral and I think I have found the perfect one, this floral print padded handle cylinder handbag.  From the photo on the Oasap website I was expecting a more cream colored purse, not bright white and it is missing the cute medallion like key chain that they show hanging off of a handle.   I was really not expecting this bag to be made of a vinyl like material.  I really thought it would be a canvas so that was a bit disappointing for me.  I suppose it will wash off quite well if it gets dirty and that could be good.  Inside of the bag there are two sewn pockets and one pocket that zips which is uber important to me since I always have lip gloss and what-not floating around in my handbags.  One detail that I noticed were the loops on the sides of the bag, it looks like you could attach a handle to this bag and use it over the shoulder if you wanted to, no strap is included though.  I love how this little handbag just sings of summer.
To match my bag I needed a little purse to hold my cash and cards and I found a very sweet studded purse in a dark pink color that I just love.  This little purse holds everything I could need and more plus the pink color matches the dark pink inside the roses on the handbag.  I love the little sparkling gems that are on top of the bow, they add that little bit of extra bling.  Both purse and handbag were only $60 total, quite a steal!  It's all in the details...

Just Eyewear Affordable Glasses and Sunglasses

Glasses and sunglasses can be so insanely expensive and I for one hate dishing out tons of money for a good pair of stylish frames!  Now you too can put your foot down and say NO More!  Just Eyewear is a great online store to find eyewear that is affordable yet trendy.  The Just eyewear website is simple to use and I love all the filters for searching so that I can find just what I am looking for in the price range I need to stick with.  They carry a large selection of men's and women's eyewear and you can even read through their handy sizing guide to help you figure out what size and style is best for your face shape.  Just Eyewear sells prescription glasses and sunglasses at a fraction of the cost of retail, backed by a 365 day return policy (they even pay return shipping!)

New PlasmaBike Self Balancing Bike for Kids

In the past I reviewed the PlasmaCar, it was loads of fun for our family and the kids play with it all the time outside.  Now the award winning makers of PlasmaCar have a new toy on the market called the PlasmaBike.  This fun and easy to use bike is built to hold up to 55 lbs.  The bike is self balancing which means that it sits upright with no effort involved.
The fact that it can sit upright really helped out with my child.  He has had no problems climbing on to use it.  It was easy as pie for him to figure out how to propel himself forward and backward.  We did have some issues with the bike falling over once he moved forward.  I think it will take some practice.  Luckily the fall is a short one.  I am hoping he will gain more confidence as he learns.
My son did have a bit of trouble with the turning of the bike because of the way it is designed but that didn't seem to matter to him, he loved it.  PlasmaBike is designed to have limited turning motion.  It helps the child not to topple over and it does prepare them for riding a real bike later on.
The bike is very solid, well made and I can tell it will last.  This is light weight, less than 8 lbs and I love that!  I can just toss it into the van and take to the playground.  When it was time to take photos for this review (and video) my little 22 month guy was a bit afraid from falling off of the bike.  He did not want to participate in the video so I asked my 6 year old to step in for the video.  This bike fits a younger child much better although my older son had no problems riding it and he was well within the weight limit.

Check out my video to see this fun bike in action.

Farm Rich for Easy Summer Snacking #nomnom

Summer is a crazy time for our family!  We are always running around, trying to stay active and keeping the kiddos busy.  All that running around and activity doing makes us hungry and so I like to keep a lot of easy snack options in the house.  For the most part we have a huge veggie and fruit platter in the fridge but when the kids are craving a bit more protein I like to cut open a bag of Farm Rich Pizza Slices or Stuffed Pretzel Bites.  For easy dinner options I keep Farm Rich Turkey Meatballs in the freezer too, they are time savers.  I have tried every Farm Rich product made so far save the mushrooms, I am just not a mushroom fan but I hear the Farm Rich ones are delicious.  My husband always likes to hide a bag of Jalapeno Bites where he thinks I won't find them lol, he loves those things.
One fun sandwich that my family has on occasion uses the mozzarella cheese sticks inside of it.  Sandwiched between two slices of french bread I place a 4-5 large thin slices of a good pepperoni, spread on our favorite marinara sauce and then we place a heaping handful of fresh spinach and finally about 4 mozzarella sticks hot out of the oven.  Slice the sandwich and enjoy!

My Hikes Pant Cuff Fasteners for Kids

My Hikes Pant Cuff Fasteners are the answer to every mom's prayers!  These are especially helpful for those of us who have kids that are growing so fast we can hardly keep them clothed.  I swear, one night my son went to bed and then next morning he was 2 inches taller, none of his clothes fit anymore...it was crazy!  I've been saving a lot of my older son's clothing for our youngest son and finally he is able to fit into the stuff I've been saving but they are a tad too long in the legs.  Luckily I have some My Hikes because now I can just clip up the hem and it holds in place no matter how hard my little tot plays.
My Hikes go on really fast and they look great.  Simply slide over the side seam of a cuffed pant leg and attaches with a press and a snap.  My children like all the fun designs that they have to choose from, there is something for everyone.  Our fave use?  We like My Hikes fasteners for bike riding because sometimes pants can get caught up in the chain of the bike and these fasteners keep them pinned down and safe.   My Hikes Pant Cuff Fasteners are available in 5 styles: Flower, Soccer ball, Princess Crown, Baseball and Train.

      FUMI Bracelet Purse Hanger

The FUMI Bracelet Purse Hanger from Fits in the Purse is really a handy tool.  FUMI stands for Fashionable, Unique, Multipurpose and Innovative.  Let's say, you are out with friends but you have your favorite purse along and there is nowhere to set it down but you would freak if it got dirty OR worse, forgotten.  All you have to do is wear or carry your bracelet purse hanger of choice (they come in many patterns and colors), open it up then prop it over an edge with your purse hanging from it.  Now your prized handbag can stay safe and up off the ground or away from spills at the table.  I like the weight and feel of the bracelet, it seems like it is quality made to me.
