Mama Nibbles: Review: Herbal Essences Naked Kit

Review: Herbal Essences Naked Kit

I was provided with a Walmart gift card and information from Herbal Essences to aid my review post.  All opinions are 100% my own.  I was not compensated in any other way to write this beauty post.

I used Herbal Essences Naked Kit for approximately 4 weeks straight to see what kind of affect it might have on my hair.  I used to use Herbal Essences products back in high school (about 13 years ago) and loved them.  So how would the new Naked line compare?  Let's find out!

When I began using these products my hair lacked the volume that I wanted.  I am 32 years old with medium wavy hair that has always been very shiny and healthy.  I wash my hair every 2-3 days and I've never color treated or had any chemicals on my hair.  I had high hopes that the Herbal Essences Naked Volume Shampoo and Conditioner would give my hair some extra oomph.

I will say first off that I really disliked the mint and grapefruit scent that all of the products contained.  The worst was the dry shampoo, I couldn't stand smelling it on my hair all day.  If the scent had simply been grapefruit I would have loved it but the mint was off-putting for me.  With that being said I did like the performance of the Volumizing Souffle but I hated the shampoo, conditioner and dry shampoo.

The shampoo and conditioner left my scalp and hair feeling itchy and dry.  My once calm hair turned into a frizzy mess with lots of fly-aways (see pic below).  I did see some good volume from using the Naked products but the dryness was horrendous and frustrating.  I had to go out and purchase some leave-in conditioner to battle the dryness problem.  The dry shampoo seemed great at first but after a few uses I noticed that it was making my hair sticky and seemingly even more dry (if that was even possible). The souffle mousse worked well once I got past the smell.  I'm sure it aided in the drying out of my scalp but it gave my limp hair some really nice volume after blow drying.

At the end of the day I will not be purchasing these products again due to the scent and the fact that I the products dried out my scalp and hair.  I have read lots of positive reviews for these products so maybe they are still worth a try if you have a different hair type, such as oily.

If you want to check this kit out for yourself (because everyone's hair is different) then you can head to Walmart.com in the link below.  The whole kit filled with 4 products retails for only $12.99.
