Mama Nibbles: Zaycon 100% Natural Chicken Review

Zaycon uses the buying power of many families together, enabling them to negotiate huge savings on food purchases for your family.  They bring products direct from the farm / processor (or as nearly as direct as possible).  The products are as fresh as if you had your own farm, but without all the chores.  They sell food by the case only to pass on the discounts to you!  Prices can vary but you will still be seeing deep savings.

Zaycon is having a Savings Event around the US and I highly suggest that you sign up for a FREE account and then see if there is an event in your area.  If there is not one scheduled right now they will email you when there is one scheduled.  Events will vary, it will depend on what can be purchased locally from where you live and according to what is in season.  They have in the past done chicken, beef, bacon, turkey, fish, and various fruits such as peaches.

I was given a case of chicken for the purpose of review, below I share my experience:

After signing up I made my purchase by locating an event in my local area.  I found several local events and chose the one nearest me.  I got 1 case of chicken (40lbs) at only $1.49 per pound!  Do you know how crazy good that price is?  Normally chicken that is hormone-free without antibiotics would cost me between $4.99 and $5.99 and it is not even as fresh as this stuff.  The price is shocking and in this economy, we need to save every penny.  Once I checked out I printed off my receipt.  I waited until the day the event was live and then made my way on over.
I drove up to the location I had chosen, the signs were very clear.  I just pulled up to the truck where the signs pointed, the people working asked me for my name and order number then they loaded my product into my trunk with a smile.

The workers very carefully laid out a sheet of plastic down before setting the box in my trunk.  It took literally 2 minutes to pick up our box of chicken, fast and easy!  I love that I could have all three kids with me in the car and I didn’t have to lift a finger.

Once I got home I prepped the table by sanitizing/disinfecting everything including my hands and arms.  The box was very sanitary, no chicken juice or anything, very dry and clean as were the bags as well.

I wrote dates and labeled all my freezer bags with a permanent marker and then washed my hands again.  It is very important to have everything super clean when packaging raw meat so we took great care.

We packaged 2 breasts per bag and did no trimming at all since I tend to always just leave that little bit of fat on, it adds flavor.  My husband and I squeezed out all the air that we could and then these went into our chest freezer spread out in a single layer so they would freeze quickly.

I baked off 10 lbs worth with a little butter, salt and pepper.  I just baked these on sheets at 350 until they were 160 internally then let them rest under tinfoil.  They reached 165 while resting.

Yummy, juicy chicken all ready to be cut up into chunks for freezing. It’s perfection!

The chicken was gorgeous, baked up beautifully tender and the flavor was outstanding.  I can’t wait to bake my family some tasty meals from our chicken stockpile!  What an amazing way to save money and feed my family the best, next time I will be picking up more!  You really should check Zaycon out.  Just click the link below to sign up for your own account and to see if there are any events in your area.
